What is Reiki

Did you say energy?

In a word, reiki is energy.

Well what does THAT mean? We hear the energy word all the time, used in too many

contexts:

“Food gives us energy”

“The sun is live-giving energy”

and one of my personal favourites

"I do/don’t like that person’s energy”

Atoms join to atoms to form molecules which form compounds which form cells, organs,

wood, stone, gasses and so on; you get the picture. Even the space between things is energy.

The common denominator, the atom, is a particle made of energy.

Back to reiki…….

Reiki, aka energy, comes from the universe. Beautiful undifferentiated energy that a reiki practitioner can channel into a body like yours or mine or even Max the cat’s.

georgetown reiki, energy healing

It is put there through either the direct touch of the practitioner’s hands on the body, or held a few inches above the body.

Here is the magic (to be covered in a future blog); you, the recipient, take this energy and put it where it is needed in your own body.

How?

Not to worry because the body knows where to put it even if you don’t. Use it however you wish.

Reduce stress? No problem.

Relax? Piece of cake.

Help the body with health issues? On it.

Reiki = Energy

Everything is made of energy.

Then Reiki = Everything

Let me give credit where it's due.

Dr, Mikao Usui was born in 1865 in Japan and while he had interests in medicine, psychology and different martial arts. He desired to find a method of healing that was unattached to any specific religion or belief system; one that would be accessible to everyone.

He was a Buddhist Monk and the story of his enlightenment and discovery of Reiki is a beautiful one.

Dr. Usui is the founder of Usui Reiki which has been in existence for over 100 years.
